Did you know that jump rope (aka skip rope) is an excellent workout to lose weight?
That’s the only piece of equipment required to jump rope. Little equipment is required, it’s inexpensive, and it’s lightweight. You can take the jump rope with you anywhere; whether you’re travelling for a business trip or just in the office for the day, you can carry it in your carryon or purse.

Benefits of Jump Rope
Jump rope improves overall level of physical fitness. It improves cardiorespiratory fitness and muscular endurance. Also, it’s great for balance and coordination.
It’s a great calorie burner! It burns more calories than running for the same amount of time. Hence why jump rope is great for weight loss.
You can make it low impact or high intensity. If done correctly, it is a lower impact activity than jogging. Alternatively, it can be a high intensity workout which is effective at burning a lot more calories at a time.
Jump Rope to Lose Weight
Jump rope tones the whole body since it involves so many different muscles in your upper and lower body. Boxers are known to include jump rope in their fitness routine. Hence, why boxers have such lean physiques and great coordination.
Diet and workout routine are key to any weight loss plan. In order to lose 1-2 pounds per week, you need to be in a caloric deficit of 500 -1000 calories per day. Calories burned from any cardio workout depends on the length of workout time, intensity of workout, and body weight of the individual. Therefore, you can increase the intensity of your workout in order to increase calorie burn.
So let’s skip rope and not skip your workout!

June 24, 2017 at 7:59 pmI don’t know that I could handle the jump rope that I did when I was a child. I do know that it burns a ton of calories. Unfortunately, arthritis in the knees has made the jumping part just a little more difficult. It is great exercise though.
